Writer-director Adam McKay (Anchorman, Talladega Nights) and his muse, writer-star Will Ferrell, reteam for another round of absurdist high-wire antics, this time with Ferrell as a 39-year-old mama's boy with dreams of a professional singing career, and Talladega Nights co-star John C. Reilly as his equally layabout step-sibling. Both actors are quite a sight in their '80s-era T-shirts and too-short shorts, jerking off (in Ferrell's case) to a TV exercise infomercial or ruminating (in Reilly's) on what it means to be a man: 'We like to shit with the door open, talk about pussy, and go on riverboat gambling trips.' It doesn't take long to figure out that Ferrell and Reilly aren't playing characters so much as they are personifying the ids of all those American males who either never learned to put away childish things, or did and wished they hadn't. Ferrell and McKay love to tilt the world on its side and see how it looks—which, in the case of Step Brothers, means not one but two scenes of violent physical confrontation between grown men and a pack of unruly preteen playground bullies. If the thought of that doesn't at least bring a smile to your face, this is definitely not the movie for you. If, on the other hand, you've always secretly wanted to see a woman making industrious use of a urinal, you've come to the right place.

This weekend I was sitting around and watching TV, when I noticed that Step Brothers was on. The movie is a little old now (2008), but I still flip to the channel anytime it pops up on the guide. I’m a huge fan of the movie and think it’s one of the better comedies of my lifetime.

Now I know that I just made a pretty bold statement that many of you may strongly disagree with, but that’s not the point/argument that I’m trying to make. The argument that I am trying to make, is that Step Brothers is easily the most quotable movie ever.

To clarify my point, I don’t think that Step Brothers is the most quoted movie ever (volume – nor can that truly be quantified) or that any one quote has become common place in everyone’s home (i.e.”You can’t handle the truth”). What I do think, is that from the beginning to end of the movie, there are endless one-liners and outrageous quotes that can be taken and used during a variety of situations throughout every day life. Not only CAN they be used, but they have been and continue to be used by an epic number of people.

Some specific events where Step Brothers’ quotes jump right into my mind, are below. Keep in mind, there are also a number of other very good random quotes, during all 106 minutes of this non-stop comedy.

1. A wedding: It’s not something I ever heard done in the fashion it was during the opening scene of Step Brothers, but I bet a ton of times after this movie was released, someone uttered “This wedding is horseshit” or “I didn’t want Salmon, I said it four times!”

2. Any time someone makes/enforces a rule in your house: Who doesn’t let someone know that you don’t agree with the house rules by stating “This house is a fucking prison!”?

3. While interviewing for a job: Don’t lie, every once in a while when you’re sitting at a job interview and the interviewee asks if you have any questions, part of you just wants to go, “Okay, here’s the shot out of the cannon: Oprah, Barbara Walters, your wife. You gotta fuck one, marry one, kill one, go!”

4. Whenever someone asks you to sing: Instead of actually singing, most of us just drop the line, “I’ve been called the songbird of my generation.”

As I started alluding to before, you also have the quotes/one-liners that your friends just drop into conversation because they feel like it, some of which they may slightly alter to better fit the situation:

Like I said, I like the movie a lot, so I’m going to stop the list here instead of making you read all day.
